COURAGE TO CONTINUE
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) and Leadership in Counter Terrorism Alumni Association (LINCT-AA) are hosting the first ever LVMPD and LINCT-AA International Counterterrorism Conference. This highly anticipated event, which was initially scheduled for 2020, is back on track for May 2023.
The challenges we faced in the past several years have been extraordinary. An unforeseen and unimaginable global pandemic rocked the stability of our world. Spikes in crime, disorder, and civil unrest followed in most major cities and the threat from mass attacks and terrorism remained as persistent as ever. Now, on the horizon, the threat picture for 2023 has only become more complex as we navigate the issues caused by global migration, job-disrupting technologies, societal fragmentation, information operations, and the unremitting threat from violent extremists and terrorists.
These are the reasons why we must have the courage to continue—the courage to persevere and prevail beyond measure. In May 2023, we intend to demonstrate the importance of this philosophy as we host 600 of the world’s leading counterterrorism professionals in Las Vegas, Nevada.

ABOUT THE EVENT
LVMPD
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) is one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the United States with a workforce of over 6,000 commissioned and civilian personnel. The LVMPD, in partnership with other public and private organizations, are responsible for safeguarding an iconic community that represents nearly 2.3 million residents and over 45 million annual visitors. The LVMPD Foundation is a non- profit organization that raises funds to support and supplement LVMPD programs to include the Strategic Support Initiative to combat crime and terrorism. This initiative, which is geared towards resiliency and the prevention of future attacks within Southern Nevada is one of the driving forces for having the LVMPD co-host this 2023 International Counterterrorism Conference.
LINCT-AA
The Leadership in Counter Terrorism Alumni Association (LINCT-AA) is a non-profit organization that focuses on the prevention of terrorism by enhancing inter-agency cooperation, professional development, and information sharing. The association not only represents some of the world’s most notable and influential decision-makers in law enforcement, military, and intelligence but it also co-produces the foremost counter-terrorism conference in the world. In 2023, LINCT-AA has partnered with LVMPD to host this conference at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
THE CONFERENCE
The tragic event of 1 October will always serve as a reminder of the ever-evolving threats we face and the irreversible damage that follows the loss of life. However, this day will also always represent the courage, initiative, and resiliency of the Las Vegas community and nation as a whole. This is why the theme for the LVMPD & LINCT-AA International Counterterrorism Conference is “Courage to Continue,” which not only embodies strength and resiliency but also the determination to overcome whatever challenges lie ahead.
